Luxurious vacation destination, $10 per night + food
November 18, 2008Harrison Lake, or Harrison Hot Springs (how some might refer to the destination) is an amazing get-away place, just two hours away from the downtown Vancouver. The lake is huge and there’s plenty of space around it for everyone, there is little cell phone coverage, and no internet.

When I went to Harrison Lake with a few friends this summer, I came back like a new man. Three days at this fine remote location can rejuvenate you like nothing else. For two days the weather was beautiful: cloudy skies, refreshing cold water, and always cheering sounds of nature. We broke our camp at a water site, on a strip of sand and rock that was just close enough to nearest neighboring camp in case something happens, but just far enough to preserve piece and quiet. Two days were spent eating, sleeping, playing games and then sleeping some more. Although it rained practically the entire day on the third day, it was quiet refreshing non-the-less.
If you were to go on a day trip, make sure you bring a map, fill up your car with enough gas, and make sure whatever it is that you’re driving can handle rough roads. The weather around the lake is usually worth than around downtown Vancouver so at least an umbrella would be required.
If you’re planning to stay overnight, make sure you have a decent tent, and other camping supplies. Wouldn’t hurt to see what experts have to say about that. But also, bring a lot of food. Fresh air makes you hungry, so why not have a feast! Just don’t forget to take all that food and hide it in a car for the night. You wouldn’t want bears visit you at the dawn, would you?
